First, here is what I created with Butterfly Kisses (note - I love this set - I love butterflies and the delicate wings, matching dies...I could go on and on):

This first card is a Gina K. Designs black A2 base. I used the Gina K. Designs white card stock (layering weight) and stamped the sentiment on the bottom left with Gina K. black ink. I die cut the butterflies on black card stock and then stamped them with Gina K. white ink. I used chalk to create the butterfly wing colors and I LOVE how they turned out. I used a combination of royal blue and turquoise/teals to create this effect.  For the splattered background I used a wet paint brush dipped in the chalk and tapped the brush gently over the white paper to let it splatter!

Here is a close up of the chalked butterflies - I used my finger to grab the chalk color and gently tapped it on the white ink to let the color grab on.

For this next card, I used a black Gina K. A2 base and stamped the sentiment in white ink.  It was not as dark as I wanted, so I poured on some white embossing powder and heat embossed the sentiment. Now it *really* pops off the card! For the butterflies, I used the new blue glitter foil and I LOVE it! First, I used the pre-printed butterfly sheets and die cut the three butterfly sizes I wanted. I took those butterfly die cuts and ran them through the laminator with the blue glitter foil. The butterflies were then adhered to the card with small foam dots.

Here is a close up of the butterflies - see how they sparkle?

A little closer, a little more sparkle!

This card was clean and simple fun! I die cut the banner on white card stock and then stamped the HAPPY BIRTHDAY banner in black ink. I think that it covered pretty good! The cake stand and candles were stamped in black, the cake details in pink passion, and then the candles and flames and cake stand base were colored with copic markers!

This final card uses a white Gina K. base. I used glossy paper for the main image because I wanted to see if I could get a "watercolor" type effect with my copic markers, using the glossy paper. I stamped the images in Gina K. black ink and used a variety of makers to color them in. I used a fine tip black marker to speckle around the images and finally finished the card using a white gel pen on the flowers.

CAS Monday: Watercolored Wish Big

Welcome to another CAS Monday!

I have decided that I really want to perfect that watercolor splotch look for my background.  Today's card used a pre-folded watercolor base. I taped off the edges and gave the paper a good soaking! I think that is the key to really creating a nice watercolored look.  I experimented with turquoise, blue and purples to achieve this look. One think you really need to do is walk away from the card. It's not a quick process.  first add a color, swirl it in the water, let the water puddle up and then add more color.  Walk away and let it dry.  Add a second color and repeat the same process.  For a deeper color, do not add as much water.  Push the colors around with your brush. Don't be afraid to let them bleed together.

The image and sentiment are from Keep Calm which has so many mix and match sentiments. I love the wish big sentiment with the cupcake from the set!  I wanted it to look simple, but with a hint of bling, so I added some stickler to the candle and the cupcake wrapper.

What do you think? Is this a technique that you have tried before?  What is your favorite color combination?

Gina K Designs March 2015 Illustrator Blog Hop

Today I am showing off a card which I made with my latest stamp release from Gina K Designs called Delicate Damask.  It features mix and match damask images with some elegant sentiments. More samples will be revealed tonight at the release party and even more on Thursday when the set will be featured by the design team!

This card features a pink base with the damask images stamped in versamark. I used the Happy Birthday sentiment with black ink and some beautiful ivory organza ribbon with some pearls on it. I love the soft look of the organza and the versamark together.

I guess it is the time of year to replenish my birthday card stash. I make cards for all the teachers and staff at the elementary school for our PTA.  Today's cards will be for them! I am a little behind! Birthday Essentials Stamp TV kit to the RESCUE!

This first card was fun to color with Spectrum Noir.  I stamped the images in black.

This card was fun to make. I love the way the white ink pops off the card! I used bakers twine for the stem of the acrylic flower. It was from my stash!

This card was created with by lining up some post it notes 1/3 of the way from the top of the card. I used a variety of inks and the images from the Birthday Blessings kit to create this card. I stamped the sentiment in black and then went over it with a black sparkle pen.

This card is very simple, yet the card could be used for a man or woman.  White ink on craft just POPS!
Sentiment in dark chocolate.

Theresa's Northwoods 2 set was fun to work with. I stamped the trees in moss, then slightly offset in white ink to create snow. I used a watercolor brush with the white ink to create the snowscape on the bottom and spritzed the card with some shimmer spray.  I guess I was inspired by our -15* cold weather!

This final card was stamped with black ink and colored with both spectrum noir markers and then I added a hint of white ink with the watercolor brush. I used  I stamped the images in black.  I used two colors of bakers twine on the card (hot pink and black).

Clean & Simple Birthday Cards using Lots Of Lines

It is usually inevitable that I have to create multiple birthday cards for the kids for parties.  I try and keep things relatively simple and clean because, quite honestly, most of the time, their friends do not keep the cards! {I know - the horror}

Today I used lots of lines to create two cards - for twins - each with their own unique style.

These cards are simple Gina K. White bases, with a single layer of 4 x 5.25

Using Gina K. Color companion inks in reds and pinks, it was easy to create this card - the sentiment stamped in black

Using Gina K. Color companion inks in blues and greens, it was easy to create this card - the sentiment stamped in black

The Lots Of Lines stamp set is so versatile and with the minimum amount of paper and supplies, you can easily create a multitude of possibilities in the clean and simple style!

Stop back tomorrow for a Clean & Simple card stamped with
Lots of Washi!

This super simple card features the horse images from Theresa's Out West 2 set.  I used the dotted image from Melanie's set between the image and sentiment.

This next card was fun to make for my dad for his birthday last week.  It reminds me of the Sedona area of Arizona!  I used copics to create the main image and stamped the cacti in dark chocolate.

Rupa's set features some great vases and floral bunch images, which can be used as backgrounds (like I did here with the leaf image and versamark on kraft). I paired it with a sentiment from Fabulous Fleur de lis (because, honestly, I didn't leave enough room for the sentiments from her set).  Sometimes you have to change things up!

I love the red, white and kraft combo with this card!
